Foreign investment in Iran enjoys protection under the Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Act (FIPPA) that safeguards the principal and profits of foreign investors in Iran.
Although foreign investment in Iran requires no particular formalities, the investor needs to receive the FIPPA license from the Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran (OIETA) to enjoy the facilities provided to foreign investors by the Iranian government.
The benefits obtained by acquiring the FIPPA license include:
- The investor will be granted the same rights and protections that are available to Iranian investors.
- Foreign investments are protected against nationalization and expropriation of the investments in Iran in a non-discriminatory manner.
- A 3-year multi-entry visa, a 3-year residency permit, and work permits are awarded to the investor, his family and the business’s foreign managers and staff.
- The government guarantees provision of adequate foreign currency for the repatriation of the principle and profits.
